ISSSC 2017 Photographs of the Inter Services Snow Sports Championships (ISSSC). The competition invites those from across the 3 services, after they have competed in their service specific competitions in the weeks before. The competition relies on volunteers and charity donations predominately from the UK Armed Forces Winter Sports Association and receives no public funding. Winter sports promotes team building and develops physical and moral courage, self-discipline and fitness in a challenging environment. In these images: Dual Parallel Slalom It was a rainy night in Meribel as Snowboarders of the three services joined to do battle in the Dual Parallel Slalom. In this race, riders go head to head racing gates competing in a knock out system. In the end it was the Army who took both the Men’s and Women’s trophies. Please Credit Photographer.

This was the Night time snowboard duel slalom, sponsored by Airtanker. Competitors take part in 2 races per heat, so that they complete a run on each side of the course. There is no timing, but a "split time" measured from when the first rider crosses the line to when the second rider crosses the line. © UK MOD Crown Copyright 2017
