QinetiQ ISSSC17 Closing Ceremony – Full Results & Photos

A huge thank you to our Sponsors who pay for the costs of our Inter Service Winter Sports competitions (no taxpayers money here!), with a particular thank you to our headline Sponsor – QINETIQ – and congratulations to the top 120 winter sports athletes from across the UK Armed Forces who have competed this week.  Winter Sports provides a challenging environment to develop teams and to build and test individuals’ determination, self-discipline, stamina, and moral and physical courage – attributes that are the bedrock of success on military operations. Also, a massive thank you to the volunteers who give up their time to organise and manage this event, it wouldn’t happen without you.

The full race results and prizes list from across the week can be found at 2017 ISSSC Full Results

This was the Night time snowboard duel slalom, sponsored by Airtanker. Competitors take part in 2 races per heat, so that they complete a run on each side of the course. There is no timing, but a "split time" measured from when the first rider crosses the line to when the second rider crosses the line. © UK MOD Crown Copyright 2017

Photographs of the Inter Services Snow Sports Championships. This race had all 3 services competing in the Telemark event. The telemark race is very similar to a Grand Slalom, with 2 changes made, a jump (of varying distance depending on location), that if not cleared will result in a maximum 3 second penalty. The other change is the cornering technique, the inside foot must be at least a foots length behind the outside foot. © UK MOD Crown Copyright 2017
