The 2015 Inter-Services Snow Sports Championships officially began today with the opening ceremony, which saw competitors, sponsors and Combined Services Winter Sports Association officials gathered before the magnificent backdrop of the Stade de slalom race piste.
The competition allows the best winter sports athletes of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, Army and Royal Air Force to compete against each other at the pinnacle of their chosen disciplines. Run by the Combined Services Winter Sports Association this competition provides a stepping stone for UK Armed Forces personnel to compete at national and in some cases international and Paralympic level.
At the opening ceremony last night the Ecole du Ski Français treated the audience to a torchlit descent, before CSWSA President, Lieutenant General Sir Christopher Deverell KCB MBE, declared the 2015 Championships open. As thick snow fell from the skies, the Ceremony provided an atmospheric start to what should be a gripping week of racing.
Images and official results will be posted at www.cswsa.org each evening and hot off the press results and images can be found at www.facebook.com/isssc. Follow the competition race by race on Twitter @CSWSA.
