Telemark Giant Slalom

Mastering the Mountain: The Telemark Giant Slalom Challenge

The Telemark Giant Slalom is an exhilarating individual timed race that rewards skiers who can maintain clean telemark form at high speeds. Unlike standard alpine events, this race consists of two runs, with the combined time determining the ultimate victor.

The course is designed to be medium length, featuring a series of GS gates set with a flowing rhythm similar to alpine giant slalom. However, competitors must also tackle a unique jump placed mid-course, which requires a specific telemark landing and a minimum distance to be cleared.

Success in this race isn’t just about the clock; it is also about precision. Technique Judges will be on-site to deduct penalties for several infractions, including:

  • Not holding the telemark stance.
  • Incorrect landing after the jump.
  • Missed distance on the jump.
