“We share many values with the Athletes that take part in the UK Armed Forces Winter Sports Association; Commitment, Integrity and working as One Team. Although we may not be able to support in person this year, I’ve no doubt the determination and teamwork at this event will continue to achieve outstanding results.”
Phill Blundell, CEO, AirTanker
This is the 15th year that we are supporting the UK Armed Forces Winter Sports Association and, whilst the current worldwide challenges have prevented this year’s event, I have no doubt it will not diminish the enthusiasm of all to deliver outstanding performances across the many different disciplines when they are able to compete again.
We are delighted to continue our sponsorship for the RAF Snowboarding Team which enables further support for the development and introduction of new members to the squad.
Like so many across the aviation industry, 2020 has been a challenging year for AirTanker and the Voyager Force. We started the year in earnest, supporting and taking part again in Exercise Red Flag, the largest multi-national Defence exercise. COVID-19 has accelerated many capabilities for us and we have completed a number of firsts during 2020. We took part in the annual Winter exercise in Norway for the first time, our experienced crews underwent significant training to be able to fly into a very challenging airfield for an A330. We flew direct to and from the Falkland Islands from RAF Brize Norton, setting a new world record in the process. Our Enhanced Cabin aircraft, ZZ336, received a new livery and we also flew HRH The Prince of Wales in ZZ336 for a VIP task into the newly completed airfield in Berlin which opened at the end of October. Voyager has also continued to support many operations and trials globally, including providing support to European Nations.
Able to deliver complex aircraft modifications, we have successfully completed the embodiment of all eight contracted aircraft to the latest military technology and are set to carry out additional upgrade programmes through into 2021 to further develop Voyager’s capabilities.
Whilst this year has hit the aviation industry hard and we have faced numerous challenges, we have continued to deliver a successful service to our customer and that is in no small part down to Voyager Force, our fantastic whole force team of military and civilian personnel.
Throughout 2020 our fleet of 14 aircraft have flown 12,382 hours, conducted 2,481 sectors, transported over 83,700 passengers and delivered 23,242 tonnes of fuel to 7, 509 receiving aircraft.
From all at AirTanker, we wish the teams the very best of health and look forward to a return to the slopes next year!
